Our partnership with Seasalt began in 2007 when our managing director walked into their Truro store, inspired by the brand’s ethos and potential. Seasalt’s goal was to expand across Cornwall and Devon coastlines. We provided the strategic insight and geographic expertise to acquire sites and secure prime locations for new stores, including Salcombe, Sidmouth and Lyme Regis, helping to establish their strong presence along the south coast.
Expanding into Market Towns
With success along the coast, we saw the opportunity to reach Seasalt’s loyal customers in market towns across the UK. By conducting careful location and demographic analysis we were able to see the customer-base that existed outside of Cornwall and acquired sites where Seasalt could reach these customers on their own doorstep! From 2013 onwards, we guided their expansion into towns like Shrewsbury, Harrogate and Northallerton, demonstrating that the brand could thrive outside of coastal regions without cannibalising the success of their original stores.
Scaling up to Cities
By 2017, after the success of their online stores and single-brand transition, Seasalt was ready to break into urban markets. We strategically guided them and acquired sites in cathedral, university cities, like Oxford, Cambridge and York. This helped them scale up while maintaining their sustainable and community focused brand identity. This expansion contributed to both their visibility and sales.
Entering Shopping Centres & Fashion Parks
Working closely with Seasalt, managing their existing leases and estate, we recognised an expansion into high traffic locations, such as regional shopping centres and fashion parks, would diversify their market and add to their success. These include the likes of Cribbs Causeway and Meadowhall. Today, we are continuing this expansion, having acquired a site in Rushden Lakes marking their entrance into fashion parks, cementing Seasalt’s presence in these competitive retail environments.
